Frequently asked questions
about winglet.

How it works, what it stores, which agents it runs, and what it costs: nothing.

What is winglet?

A Windows desktop app for running several coding agents side by side. See which agent needs you and read each conversation without hunting through terminal output. Free to use, closed source.

What is the reading view?

Your prompts appear as cards, each reply starts with a bold first line, and tool output folds into a row you can expand. Choose your font, size, spacing and background. The words stay unchanged: no model is in the path, and every rule is a pattern or a kind-of-item test, so nothing is rewritten or summarized. Read one exchange shows the current question and latest reply side by side.

How is this different from a terminal multiplexer?

Alongside terminal panes, you get a count of agents waiting on you, their questions pulled out of the transcript, and desktop notifications. You can read conversations in a separate reading view, add your own panels and share project notes between agents.

Can I ask about a conversation without interrupting the agent?

Not yet. A planned side chat will let you ask a small model about recent turns, with quotes linked back to the transcript. It will not send your question to the coding agent. For now, use the reading view or enable a one-line catch-up when a conversation goes idle.

Which coding agents does winglet support?

winglet has adapters for Claude Code (claude-code) and Google Antigravity (agy). You can also run commands or scripts in PowerShell, bash or CMD through a shell pane. Plain shell status is a labeled best guess; running a CLI there does not give it an agent adapter.

Is winglet Windows-only?

Yes. The desktop app requires Windows 10 (1809+) or Windows 11. You can also open your workspace in a browser on another machine you own, or use the paired phone web app.

Is anything sent to the cloud?

No winglet account, telemetry or code proxy. winglet stores sessions, transcripts and project data on your PC. Your agent CLIs still connect to their configured model services. Optional network features include SSH to your hosts and phone push to a server and topic you choose. The AI catch-up line is also opt-in; side chat is planned.

Is winglet free? Is the source public?

winglet is free to use, with no account or paid feature unlocks. Its source code is not public, so we can change it fast without maintaining a public API.

How do I install winglet?

The Windows installer is coming soon. There is no installer download on this site yet. See system requirements and availability.

How do I uninstall winglet?

Remove the winglet shortcuts and application directory. You can also unregister its Windows notification identity. To remove saved winglet data, delete %APPDATA%\winglet; this also removes the project memory and settings stored there.

Where is my data stored?

winglet stores its data locally under %APPDATA%\winglet. Shared project notes, backlogs, skills and prompts are in artifacts.db, a SQLite database. Project settings are in projects.json. Your source code stays in your git repositories.

How does winglet know whether an agent is working or waiting on me?

Supported CLIs send events such as SessionStart, PostToolUse, Notification and Stop to an authenticated local endpoint. winglet uses those events to show whether the agent is working or waiting. Plain shells get a labeled best guess. Some questions asked through a CLI dialog can still be missed; the UI flags that limit.

What is in a notification?

Questions trigger notifications when winglet detects them. By default, a completion notification includes the agent's own check output or explicitly says no check ran. You can use desktop notifications and opt into phone push through a server you choose.

How do I add my own panel?

Start with a bundled plugin example and adapt it to show your script's output. Each plugin lives in a folder under plugins/, with a manifest and optional panel description or module. A script in any language can supply the panel. Plugins that contain code stay inactive until you approve that code by hash.

Can I use winglet in an air-gapped or restricted corporate network?

winglet has no required cloud backend or telemetry. You can use it on a restricted network if your agent CLIs can reach the models they need. An agent that requires an external service still needs access to that service.
